/\ SUMMARY /_________________________________________________________________

\/ DETAILS \/

Stats:
GPA: 3.8ish UW (W= not much more because most of my classes aren’t weighted until I pass my IB exams at the end of senior year)
SAT: 1400/2050 (670V, 730M, 650W)
SAT IIs: 670 Math 1, 660 Literature (plus some more lower scores)
Rank: School doesn’t rank
Course Load: Close to hardest possible -> IB Diploma Candidate in IB-only school
School: Very diverse; moderately competitive… I think -> about 18% of my senior class is an IB Diploma Candidate

ECs:
Soccer: Very dedicated, play year round; all 4 years on high level club team, varsity soccer at school. Soccer severely impacted during freshman and junior years due to serious injuries, but remained active in teams.
Coach: Volunteer head coach of youth soccer team for past 2 spring seasons.
YMCA Leaders Cub: Member for 5+ years. We organize events for children in our community, as well as fundraise so that underprivileged children can get scholarships to YMCA camps.
Work: Have worked at 2 full service hotels. Full time during summer of junior and senior years, and part time during school year of senior year.

Subjective:
Essays: I think they are solid… main one is about learning to live with guilt, why brown is about why I want to go to a liberal arts college for business (obviously COE, but more uniquely how the natural educational and social environments at Brown foster an entrepreneurial spirit).
Recs: Read one teacher rec which was excellent (about my growth over 3 years in her classes and recovering from hardships in my personal life); didn’t read 2nd teacher rec but I think it’ll be good as well (wrote about my “remarkable integrity” as demonstrated through actions he witnessed). Counselor rec should be good (… I hope). One supplemental rec from a regional head at my international hotel brand that I have worked under for 2 years (should be very good).

thank you all for your insight and Merry Christmas!

Under essay you wrote Brown, I hope you meant Middlebury or you're in the wrong thread and even worse I hope you didn't write the wrong college in any essays you already sent out. Double check names- Good Luck.

AHH! so SORRY. disregard the part where i mention Brown, I forgot to edit it out when i copied my stats in... sorry!

i think you have pretty high chances, midd doesn't care a lot about sat scores, you have a challenging academic program, your ECs are nice as well. if you really think that your essays are great, then you're all set. good luck =)

appreciate the encouraging words!

Your stats are a bit on the low side for Midd.

What is 3.8 equivalent to in your school?

Midd has a supplemental essay...what did u write about?

I saw you were doing IB - too bad the results come out so late. Are you doing any APs? I'm thinking that some strong AP scores could improve your app on the testing side. SATs seem a little low for Midd, which is too bad since your IBs might be very good.

Unfortunately my school only offers IB, no Ap, so I wont have any results until the spring.

For the supplement I followed the prompt, describing where I came from. I structured it as if I was a tour guide of sorts "leading the reader through my town" and pointing out the unique aspects that have shaped me.

3.8 in my school is a 3.8/4.0 I just dont know the exact gpa i will have after my first semester grades are factored in.

Thanks for the great responce!
