Hi everyone!
So I’m really into international business and am trying to decide between SCU and NYU Stern. They’re both great schools but Stern has a significant upper hand in international business while SCU is great for the silicon valley. SCU has given me a full ride and I missed the CSS profile date for NYU financial aid(Ik I hate myself for that too L). If I were to attend NYU I would be looking at around $70k loans and $62k of that is PLUS loans. My family is low income and I’m not even 100% sure if we’d pass for the PLUS loan but I’m hoping that if we do then sophomore year I can apply for CSS and get more. I’m a little skeptical about living in NYC but as of right now going off of fb class of 2023 groups, nyu prospective students seem really welcoming and fun! I do not want to be in debt but am wondering if it is worth it to be able to pursue my dream job at nyu stern??
If your family is low income you shouldn’t even be considering any loans greater than the $27K total offered for students. Go with the full ride.
Santa Clara full ride for sure. There are too many ifs with the NYU Stern scenario. You can always go to NYU campuses later for graduate school after you get a debt free education in the heart of Silicon Valley
How is it that you didn’t file a CSS Profile this year is you wanted aid at NYU?
But to be honest, even if you had your aid package would probably have been lousy. In financial aid circles, NYU is well-known for giving excellent aid to a small number of NY State HEOP students, and poor aid to just about everyone else.
Follow the love, and the money, to Santa Clara. Do well there. Graduate without any debt. You will have much better options starting out after graduation.
Santa Clara – no question.
I’ll second dustyfeaters: Santa Clara, no question.
Congratulations that’s a pretty rare feat!
(weird double post/edited)
Santa Clara in a New York minute.
100% agreement on CC? Pretty amazing:-) Count me as another in the NO DEBT Santa Clara camp!!

Both NYU and Santa Clara are known for being pretty ungenerous for merit so yes go with SCU. It’s really changed for the better since I went there many many moons ago.
Santa Clara. Good school. Nothing you cannot do there that you could also do at NYU. Remember, this is undergrad! Sure, the appeal of New York and the NYU name might seem tempting, but it is not worth so much debt. Why would anyone turn down a full ride? Why would a student from a lower-income family turn down such a huge merit award?
I was worried about lacking international connections right after college but that is reassuring to hear!
