Full Ride Scholarship Opportunity

I'm a high school junior and I'm planning on visiting Florida Tech in a couple of weeks. A few seniors at my high school were telling me about this summer program at FIT that gave them a full ride to the school. They said I have to apply to the program in February of this year and attend the program during the summer between junior and senior year of high school. If I get accepted to the summer program and go, I get a full ride scholarship to FIT. There's a couple of people at my school who did this last summer and will be going to FIT for free.

Does anybody have any additional information about this program?

Also, if I get a "full ride," I'm assuming that means tuition + room/board? If this is the case, what will my Bright Futures money go towards? What about other private scholarships that I may receive? Does this money just go into my pocket?

I think your friends are mistaken. There is only one “full ride” scholarship offered by FIT at the moment - the Farmers scholarship. It pays for tuition, housing, and food. It’s extremely difficult to get and only one student receives it each year.

FIT gives a lot of other scholarships though. Are you at a magnet school? If you go to certain magnet schools, you may qualify for a large scholarship. There are also large scholarships for members of certain robotics clubs. Students from Brevard County also receive decent scholarships.

Since FIT is private university, Bright Futures only pays $100 per credit, which is not enough to pay for a class. So, it’s unlikely you’ll have excess money from Bright Futures. If you did, the money would be deposited in your bank account.
