I'm at a loss; I know it's not an ivy league acceptance or anything but the decision is still a relatively hard one. I applied to Washington and Lee because I had received a free application and before you know it, I submitted my application for the Johnson Scholarship without even thinking I would get it. Who knew? I got the full ride.

Only problem is, I visited the school and I didn't feel the "fit" that most people dream of when attending college. (Maybe it's because I'm Asian and the school didn't seem particularly diverse at first impression.) At this point, Barnard is at the top of my list but in choosing to go there, I will land up with 13K a year to pay (around 9K a year for Wellesley)

I hope to go to Med School after my undergrad. And I know Wellesley and W&L have strong med school placement rates.

Please help me with input :)

If you can’t absolutely stand going to W&L pick the one you wish to attend. the price gap between Wellesly and Barnard is marginallyinsignificant, and if you’re going to end up paying to attend a school you might as well end up picking the one you want.

I agree. Money is important, but if you can pay the price, go to where you want to go.

the Education Trust has a searchable database for the demographics of US colleges:
[EdTrust - College Results Online](http://www.■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/default.htm)

Do a group search, then there is a little drop-down menu on the right, hit the “student characteristics” and that will bring up the racial breakdown of each campus. Not sure this will matter, but it may be worth seeing just how little or much each campus diversity is. Also, is there an Asian-American students club on the W+L campus, are there current students available that you could talk to? Before dismissing the free ride from one visit, i would dig a little more to see if there maybe a part of the university that just wasn’t evident when you visited. If you spend just a few hours digging, it could save you 40K over 4 years, so think of the research as paying yourself 10K per hour.

I would talk with Asian students at Wash and Lee and ask them about their experience. Diversity is important for a zillion reasons, but sometimes first impressions are just that -“first”- maybe after talking to folks W and L will grow on you. If you absolutely can’t do it, they go to Wellesley its cheaper.
