Full Ride vs. My Favorite?

So I just got back from my big college visit weekend. I'm an Ohio resident, so I visited the big Ohio schools that I was considering, with some left out that I will visit soon. I visited Dayton, Miami of OH, Cincinnati, Xavier and Ohio Uni.

Wasn't really liking Cincinnati at all, so I've pretty much ruled that out.
Miami seemed a bit boring and stuck up, so that's still in the running but definitely a longer shot than the other 3.

Xavier, Dayton, and OU are left.

LOVED Dayton. They said that I would get a 45K-60K scholarship due to academics (3.6GPA, 1330 CRM SAT). Seeing as their tuition is 30K + 10K for room/board, that cuts it down to about 25K-30K total per year. They also said free textbooks for my entire time there too.

Xavier was great too, and I'm not really sure what they could give me, but I'm gonna apply anyway because I really liked it. Just to see what they give me financially.

OU was the big thing I wanna talk about. It probably would have been in 3rd behind Dayton and Xavier, but they talked about HTC, a program that I might (and might is key word here, I'm not in for sure by any means) get into that's like an "individual attention" thing that sounds great where I get a smaller class size, more 1-on-1 time with professors, etc. It's also more challenging.

They also said that if I raise my CRM SAT to a 1400 (1330 now, only taken it once) or get a 32 on my ACT (just took it, waiting for results( by March 1st I would get a FULL RIDE for tuition. So that would cut costs to about 10K a year.

If you haven't read anything so far, just answer me this.

If I was to get the full ride at Ohio U, should I pick Dayton (25K-30K per year) which is my preferred, or Ohio U (10K per year), which I liked but definitely has some cons.

Thanks guys. If you could provide reasoning for your answers, that would be fantastic.

If you liked OU and can save >$100K for your education over four years I have no idea why you’re asking the question. It seems like a slam dunk to me.

Apply to both, and the HTC program. See if you can get your scores up. Do you know, or have a pretty good idea, what you want to major in? Check out the programs at each school closely, and decide if there is a HUGE difference in the programs. Is money a problem for you if you do decide on Dayton?

It is too early to decide. I’d definitely apply to them all and see what happens. Scholarships admissions staff say you may be eligible for are not always what you get in the end. Sometimes you get more aid than you expect, other times you may get less. Until that final letter comes, it is all just talk. You need to take your family finances into account. Consider any plans and potential expenses you expect to have for graduate school and try not to load yourself up with too much debt. I would also think about t how much you like and feel comfortable at each school - OU is much larger and you have to decide if you can be happy there. There is no right or wrong answer. Good luck.

It’s too early to decide now…apply to all and see what is offered.

What is your intended major?

Is the HTC program an honors program?

How much will your parents pay each year? If you don’t know, ask them.

Are you only going to apply to OH schools? There are other schools that would give you scholarships.
