full time

for being a full time college student what is the longest hour days you spent at school? and what’s the recommened number of classes to take per day without being overwhelmed. Also how long are classes?

Most of these questions can be answered by looking at your course catalog. There is no one answer, there are dozens of possible schedules for any one student.

In general, a full time student takes four courses a semester. It’s common to have MWF classes and TTH classes. Beyond that, your days and weeks are going to be determined by the course catalog.

Depends on the major, the school, and if they are on semesters/trimesters/quarters…

My engineering daughter has 5 courses/semester. Her longest day was 8:30 am until 5:30 pm but that was just one day/week.

I would try to spread out the courses so you don’t have long days…but sometimes you can’t help it.

Look at your major and the classes you need to take each semester. As a freshman, you may want to start on the lower end of units/credits (while still maintaining your full-time status) as you get your feet wet - don’t overload yourself that first semester/quarter or you could be quickly overwhelmed. Also, be flexible about when you take classes in the day. If you limit yourself because you don’t want to be in class before 11:00 or after 3:00, you may not make it out in 4 years. My D is a junior this year - she has classes from 8:30am to 6:30pm on Wednesdays. Not her preference, but that’s when the classes she needed were available.

One way to lessen your daily schedule but not extend your time in college is to take some courses during the summer at a local CC and transfer them. You college will have rules about what they will accept and how to get this approved.
