fun activities in the Ann Arbor and greater Ann Arbor area

Okay i was bored and was thinkin of stuff I like to do in Ann Arbor. Maybe some this will appeal to some of you.

kayaking/tubing/swimming in the Huron River

Disc Golf. The course in Canton is the best

Hookah Bar with 3+ friends (Cafe Oasis is good. Mint and Strawberry are the best flavors. Cafe Oz is the other popular hookah bar and is more middle eastern themed)

See a concert at the Elbow Room (my fav. venue in the Ann Arbor area) in Ypsi.

See the newest indie film at the michigan theatre

Go to Encore recording. Most of the people who work there are pretentious douche bags but they have a good selection

Watch the Micheal Jackson impersonator

Feel free to add on

What is hookah anyway? On my first night of orientation i accidentally ended up in the group where one of the orientation leaders quickly dropped a bunch off at a coffee shop for what I heard was a hookah party. A friend and I were like...oops, we don't even know what hookah is so maybe we should leave right away.

A hookah, also referred to as a "sheesha" or an "argueeleh" is a water pipe, a traditional smoking aparatus widely used in the Near and Middle East.

Yeah, I remember trying that stuff out in Makati, Philippines.

I'd add canoeing to your first item.

Other things:

The antiques market (periodically held down at the Farm Council Grounds)
The Natural History Museum
The Hands-On Museum (hey, I've got offspring)
Farmer's Market
Shopping interesting stores (Downtown Home & Garden, Peacable Kingdom, Common Wisdom, etc)
Browsing Borders
WhirlyBall
Bowling
Drive-in A & W in Dexter
Movies/Events at Michigan Theatre
People-watching downtown
People-watching on campus
Walking in the Arb

Meet Shakey Jake

see a movie on the new imax screen at showcase in ypsi

Do students ever go to Tigers games?

Wow--Shakey Jake is still there??? (exclaimed by '80 alum).

I'd add--sledding or traying in the Arb
visit planetarium in the Physics bldg (can't rmember the name)
Art Museum

There's a bus stop right across the street from comerica and it's only about 30-40 minutes to get there. I'm sure some students go to tigers games.

-35 cent wing tuesdays at buffalo WW
-Pinball Pete's
-Encore has a good Hiphop section
-Vault of Midnight if your into collecting toys (Medicom, Kidrobot, etc)
-Launch Board Shop if your into collecting rare Nike Dunks

I have no clue what kind of bus you're talking about. I've heard of one person going to a Tiger's game during the school year, and it was because his dad had corporate tickets for the Tiger's/Lion's/Red Wings and he went with him.

The city bus (The Ride). You get on at the bus station in downtown ann arbor and theres a stop outside of comerica

AATA only serves Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti.

I heard Necto on Friday's is pretty crazy.

Back in my day, Tuesday and Friday nights were gay nights at Necto's.

I'm pretty sure Gay Night is still friday. I think tuesday is now goth night

Isn't there a gay night and then a lesbian night?

I think that gay night is all encompassing.

Monday is industrial/goth night...good drum n' bass music but then again, it's Monday. College night is lame. Same with Frequency Sat. Vision Sundays are great (house/techno) but no one shows up :-(. Friday night is where the party's at.
