Hunger games at Lawrenceville.

Also, at L’ville, there’s house Olympics and whatnot. I know there’s also dances sometimes, though I don’t know how often. (I also know that Peddie and L’ville sometimes have dances together).

Overall, though I’m not YET a boarding school student, I think that it really is what you make of it. If you go in expecting it to be awful, then it probably will be. But if you go in with an open mind, it might not be too bad and /perhaps/ even fun.

House Olympics are supposed to be fun. I mean, if you’re the kind of person that enjoys taking tests and studying a lot, you’d enjoy BS a lot. :)

yay, that’s me. (kinda)

Going to sporting events on the weekends.

(sorry, NMH)

I’m disappointed that SPS doesn’t have a school rival (like Choate & Deerfield and Andover & Exeter). My tour guide at Choate told me all about “Deerfield Day”, and it sounded amazing (burning a model of the dragon & spirit rallies).

My brother’s daughter chose to attend his rival BS. Everyone snickered when he had to write that tuition check. He would go to her games and cheer for HIS school. He was very popular with the other parents…

Never fear boardingschoolx, there’s lots of fun stuff at SPS. There’s a big rally before the fall Night Game and each house makes a banner and wears costumes. Then there are the other events - dance on the first night back (bring crazy clothes!), Field Day, Boar’s Head dinner, Merge game, etc etc.

@friendlymom what is merge game?

You get a name of someone to “merge” with and you have to catch them alone. Once you’ve gotten your target, that person is eliminated and you get their target name. Eventually the winner emerges.

@friendlymom Wow! Thanks for all the great info!

That sounds fun.
Does the merge game happen during the weekends or does it happen on a random basis? Is it once a year or are there a lot every year?
@friendlymom

@friendlymom thats like ‘Survivor’ at Exeter

@needtoboard what is that?

It is how you feel it. Some take something as fun while others may never think that way. So, it really depends. BS’s usually have many clubs and you can enjoy some of them. Then it could be fun to you.

It’s once per year, in spring.

@Charger78 Oh do your kids attend St. Andrew’s School? I’m just asking because both my sisters attended, and I recognize those traditions!
