Fun with Telebears

Hi guys, I have a Telebears related dilemma I would be very happy to have answered/very happy to receive input on.

I'm currently in an R1B course, but at the moment the time of it conflicts with one of my major prerequisites. The reason I enrolled in the conflicting R1B course was because I'm hoping on just contacting the professor afterwards and asking to switch into the earlier section if there's someone willing to trade with me.

Would staying in the section I'm in now be better than getting at the bottom of the waitlist for the section time I want? I.e., should I relinquish my spot for this section of the R1B and get on the waitlist for the section I want, or should I keep my spot and hope on a trade by contacting the professor later on?

Which option gives me better chances of getting the section I want? I would greatly appreciate any advice!

I’m assuming you are a senior ?
Stay in the course, and in January (or at least after this semester is done) - if someone agrees, contact the department directly to have them manually switch you
ask the GSI to mail out to everyone to see if anyone would be willing to switch
it is better to be enrolled in any section - and then have it switched then get on the last spot of the waiting list and seeing what happens
can’t you stay enrolled in this one and waitlist for another one ?
just fyi, earlier sections tend to be less popular than later ones, and it is easier to switch into earlier one than the other way around
So bottom line is, don’t drop the course
good luck
