So we’re hearing a LOT about how USAFA is difficult and life-changing which is great and all. But what about the Academy is fun? What kind of spirit missions have been done? What do cadets laugh about at the end of the day?

i know if u look back theres thread on this somewhere, but heres a quick snapshot for me.

first basic has tough times, but all we talk about now is funny moments. like in the assault course (worst one) when one of my squadmates had to carry on a stick his dirty underwear that fell out of his pant leg from the day before. other little things too.

during the year, making greek baths in the showers, placing CQ desks outside, stacking chairs to block the bridge to the academic building, and stuff like that.

also, with choir and chorale, we travel a bit (boston, NYC, st. louis, chicago), so those are always fun and i ahve a lot of great memories from those

We work hard, and play hard. In addition to above. We flooded the wing staff hallways with water, put a huge banner on the chapel, stole half the guide-ons (flag in front of squadron formations) etc. etc.

Is the "saber on top of the chapel gets rid of your doolie year" tale true?

its the hat. and no, we wished, but doolie year continues.

you'll hear lots of stuff like that, which is fun just to think about, and try for fun

We hung a banner off the top Mitch's...getting up there was the hard part...

What's fun?

other than spirit missions and obvious fun things (like dining outs and skiing) u just make fun with what you have. for example, during basic you make fun of cadre as they yell at you (of course, only inside, and then to your roomie that night). just pretty much make fun out of whatever u can

"during basic you make fun of cadre as they yell at you (of course, only inside, and then to your roomie that night)."

Nice. I'll have to remember that. :)
