Since finals have already been completed and there is still time before graduation, what do all the cadets do in the meantime? just chill?
Has the summer period begun for non-firsties or what?

I heard cadets jump in the memorial after their last final...lol. I can't wait to go to the Academy.

Right now we're in "Dead Week." As you might expect, there's not a whole lot going on. I've been to a briefing or two every day, sat some CQ, and have generally not done much at all. All the firsties are packing up their stuff to be moved this week, but that's basically it. On Wednesday, we've got the annual end-of-the-year Cadet Jamboree to celebrate everyone's survival and completion of another year at USAFA. After that, there will be a ton of parade practice and Graduation itself. Only then does the summer period (and the true fun ;)) really start.

And yes, PJ, it's tradition for firsties to jump in the fountains after their final final. They're fun to watch. :)

when I went to the Academy, the cadet told me they show up to class in scuba gear, lol.

dead week is terrible if you are working basic...stuff all day mon-thursday

Yup, BCT and AETC cadre are training 10-12 hour days all week. I have been to ONE briefing, so I've been reading, going to the gym, posting here, and relaxing. It's really relieving without school now! I'm lucky enough to have the BCT job that has no prep this week (my prep was all fall semester!).

Sounds like a nice time to be a cadet. (Almost as good as playing 4+ hours of Call of Duty 4 at school each day after finals were over :) )

Life is pretty good being a senior

Wasn't for me. 4 dig year was less stressful than being a high school senior. ;) But that's not normal, I was just crazy then.

I found my experience at a "real" college to be less stressful than my senior year. Then again, I got to choose my own hours and sleep in a lot...
Scuba gear, huh? That just takes the fun out of it, for me any way. Only time you'd get ypur uniform all messed up and NOT get yelled at for it, i'd think....

They are wearing their uniform. Some people will take a snorkel mask or floaties to their last final with them.

As hornet said, BCT cadre and AETC cadre are quite busy...I've gotten up at 5:30 the last three days and worked until at least about 3:00 with few breaks. On top of that, I'm in charge of logistics for Ring Dance this year, so I'll have afternoon work the next couple days on top of that.

Just you wait, 2011..."dead" week only really applies freshman year for sure. ;)

And some upperclassmen. ;)

Knock it off, hornet...else I'm gonna keep you REAL busy during BCT. ;)

I don't mind being busy then. mwahaha. ;)

Those poor 2012ers...

Ouch....Hornet as a Paramedic and Pharmacy Specialist I feel obligated to remind you the job of an EMT is to care for the sick and injured, not wish for them. :)

AETC practice = sun burn, marching, more marching, inspections...and more marching.
0500 to 1500-1600ish

Smash Mouth anyone? I saw at least one of you Lukers up in the front of the mosh. :)

mwahaha, my friend and I stayed up front right in front of him the ENTIRE time. I'm sore from blocking all the people that tried to rip us away. ;) Three of us guys (plus me shielding my friend in front of me) were working together (with a wee bit of help from the event staff cadets in front of us) to make sure we kept our spots in the very front. It worked out, REALLY hard since people were trying hard to pull us away. :) We held fast! Good to see you for the brief moment you made it up there PETKO. ;)

G4C- What are the plans for Ring Dance? I understand it is when the rings are given and it is a formal dance. When is it held?
