[quote]
Middlebury College’s campaign, the Middlebury Initiative, has a goal of $500 million and had raised $388 by Dec. 31, said Jim Keyes, vice president for college advancement.

Middlebury’s annual total was “our second largest ever, despite continued uncertainties in the general economy,” Keyes said in an email. “We had broad based support, especially for financial aid, our highest priority.”

By comparison, peer institution Amherst College raised $59.2 million, and Bowdoin College, $34.3 million.

Hey CrewDad, I appreciate your enthusiasm, but this selected quotation is slightly misleading. It states at the top of the article that, “Middlebury College drew the most of any school in the state, $41,928,149.” So we Panthers were in between the totals of the two mentioned peer institutions. Still, nothing to sneeze at. (excuse my ending preposition).

Good point. I wasn’t intentionally trying to mislead. I posted early on a Sunday morning. Nuff said.

No excuse necessary.

Thanks CrewDad. I didn’t mean to suggest that you did that intentionally.

Off topic for sure, but one time I overhead a guy say that to my dad in a teasing way. He teased right back, saying the sentence again but ending it with “A hole”, calling it a proper noun. Now every time I hear that “rule,” I think of my dad and smile. Thanks Crew!
