Goldfish, students at Princeton are seen as snobbish and rich. But that's just stereotype.

How many Duke students does it take to change a light bulb?

2, one changing the light blub and the other one cheering him on with his face painted blue.

Um, hairypotty, I think he was being sarcastic...

It's hard to know if someone is being sarcastic without hearing his tone or seeing his facial expression.

Goldfish, I think they are implying that Princeton students drink a lot.

How many Wesleyan students does it take to change a lightbulb?

Wesleyan's boycotting GE . . . you know, military-industrial complex and all that.

That's just hilarious.

lol ok..so electricians are the archetypical rich man...

btw, I was being serious..

Ok, here's an explanation of the Princeton joke.

The joke is implying that Princeton students are lazy, rich, and spoiled, and think that they're sophisticated. Most of us, when a lightbulb is out, just change it ourselves, but this joke is saying that Princeton kids are so spoiled / lazy that they have to call an electrician to do it for them.

Since a martini is a (relatively) sophisticated drink (compared to say, beer, which is what most college drinkers go for), the martini part of the joke is implying that Princeton kids are sophisticated, or at least think that they are, and that they're spoiled and kind of goofy.

I guess it's not as funny when you have to explain it like that, but do you get it now?

By the way, by making that joke, I wasn't necessarily implying that those stereotypes about Princeton kids are always true... but they do exist, just like the stereotype of Brown kids as touchy-feely and Dartmouth kids as party-outdoorsey etc do exist.

Oooh, good explanation! I want to know the reasoning for the Brown one! Perhaps ILoveBrown could explain... "share the experience?"

Thanks ILoveBrown, though I still dont see why this joke is funny. :p

All of the college jokes are funny because they play on the stereotypes that people have of that college. If you aren't aware of the stereotypes, it won't be very funny to you. Oh well.

The "share the experience" joke about Brown is trying to say that Brown kids are touchy-feely, hippies, etc.

Come on now... must these jokes be explained?

Goldfish, you need to go buy yourself a sense of humor!

those jokes were hilarious. just let the ones you don't understand slide.

these jokes really arent that funny

And seriously, you're asking for explanations?
how nerdish/bookish, lol

I think it's admirable to seek the answers to boggling life mysteries.

I think the one for Penn is just wrong... you hardly get crap for credit from a class (take a class, get one credit)

No, I know about the stereotypes. Its just that these jokes dont seem THAT funny.

Princeton one is my favorite.

you guys seriously need this stuff explained to you?

damn

"rinceton one is my favorite."

Mine too. Hi Shaina. :)
