Further Review Required

Hi All,

I'm really worried--I have sent in all the forms/ documents McGill had written they needed on Minerva. When I checked recently it said 'Further Review Required' and stated that I needed to submit my final University Transcript. I have already submitted a University transcript which they stated they received. So my question is : What is this final University transcript & will they frown upon my application because I did not submit this? Are they debating extensively over my application? God, my heart is pounding right now because I just found this out....

Don't worry, they're processing it. If you're really concerned, you can email the office of recruitment/admissions.

I think this means they couldn't make a decision based on just 1st semester grades and need to wait until they see 2nd semester. My status said this too. I e-mailed one of the admissions people and they said my grades weren't solid enough to make an "early" decision, but if I get solid grades this semester I'll be fine (solid meaning Bs). I'm still freaked out though...isn't this going to make getting housing really hard?

housing is by lottery as long as you apply before the housing deadline. i think the policy is that there's a space for every first year entering.

My first semester grades were all right: A, B+, B, & a C+ (yeah I've nearly covered the spectrum--1st semester gpa = 3.25) but I thought I might still have a good shot at getting in...

This is interesting, because my decision says "Reviewed - Decision Pending". I guess this means that they already have everything they need from me but my profile was uncertain and they will make my decision after they have gone through the other applications?

TellingOnYou: What program are you applying for? I know for the Bachelor of Science you need a B or above in all science/math classes to get in; I had two B minuses which is why they couldn't admit me with current grades. Maybe your situation is similar?

I'm applying to the Management core (international to be specific)--I'm not sure of their requirements.

housing is done after all frosh have been accepted-ie june/july. also, it's done by lottery, so date of acceptance has nothing to do with it. only thing that would affect it is if you won a major scholarship-then you get to pick your rez.

hyrule, DS has been in the same status for a while now - we know they have his first semester grades because it is posted on Minerva - and to make it worse, another student in his HS class of 25 has already been accepted -

Have your school call and ask exactly what it is that McGill is asking for. My son went through this same ordeal and it turned out, in the end, to be nothing much.
CALL McGill and have your counselors call. Push the issue. In my son's case, it was a very minor detail.
As to housing-don't worry there either-
If you are first year U0 or first year but designated U1 (advanced standing) as soon as you are accepted-send in your housing deposit-this will hold your place for campus housing.
Best of luck to you all-McGill is a fine school.

Spike mom-if you want to send me messages privately-just go ahead-
I can relate to your situation-we were there a year ago-I'll fil lyou in on anything I know-

My status now says "Further Review Required" as well, but I've had nearly straight A's and great SAT's, and my family is originally from Qu

sorry to jack this, but bklynmom, how do you know if you're designated U1? I already have 30 credits from AP's my junior and sophomore year, and yet I don't see any where that says I have advanced standing.

dude this thread is nearly 2 years old.

Further review required just means they want your semester grades.
