So is MITES like, insanely competitive?

Yeah it is. That’s why you should apply to multiple summer programs. I’m a junior and I’m applying to 10. I didn’t do MITES because I’m white, but every program I’ve applied to has <10% acceptance. It’s insane. But I’m sure you would have a shot if you write great essays. MITES isn’t the end all be all, but it’s a great program. Just make sure you have back ups/ other options as well.

What are some of the summer programs you applied to?? I need examples haha.

Rockefeller Science outreach program, Jackson Lab Summer Student Program, NIH SSP, J. Craig Venter Institute Summer Internship, Stanford SIMR, Clark Scholars at Texas Tech, City of Hope summer internship, Breakthrough collaborative, Michigan State HSPSP, RSI, UCLA HSSRP, etc.

^i didn’t apply to all of those, but that’s a pretty comprehensive list.

Buuuuuuuump
