Hello there!
I’m a high school senior in South Florida, and I want to eventually transfer to FSU after community college. (Because of financial reasons, I’m probably going to attend CC for my first two years.) The situation - I became very interested in FSU’s Voice Performance major, but I noticed that the prerequsites for the major is eleven classes. Some classes aren’t even covered at my local CC, so I don’t know if the transfer is possible. What is recommended in a case like this? What is the normal procedure?
If you have any tips, I’d appreciate it so much. Thank you.
If your plan is to get your AA degree then I would suggest you concentrate on the classes you need for your AA and take whatever classes your CC offers in music. But realize that FSU will make you take them again. So financially getting your AA is not the best route. (also, the additional 30 credits that you don’t need) Those prerequisites ( Math, Language arts, Science etc ) are mixed in with your Music classes that you start taking Freshman yr. So if this is a financial situation don’t do it. If it has to do with grades and SAT get your AA and focus on heading to one of the BEST music schools in the Country. It will be worth it. I would also suggest that even if you decide on getting your AA you should apply to FSU this Fall / audition in the Spring. ( audition experience is worth it) Also, keep singing. If you do your AA. you will need to keep yourself in the best shape musically. (especially for Voice Performance) Good luck!
