Future of Islam in America and Europe?

I was reading how the Saudi prince donated millions of dollars to Georgetown and Harvard and I came up with very disrespectful comments over it. Its pretty obvious that the image of Islam has been tarnished in America and in countries like France. Well, I have to be honest that the same amount of dislike towards America is expressed in the Middle East. Its because of lack about knowledge about each other's cultures which makes maintaing relations hard. Obviously the Middle East isnt the perfect place to be, but why does their religious affiliation get bashed? And will this ever be solved? With resentment towards Muslims increase with time, will there be less tolerance towards the religion? Will Muslims have to move out to reduce tensions? What is the future of Islam in America?

Our founding father came to this land due to lack of religious freedom, will Americans leave for the same reason? Thanks

btw, this is where I read the article:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1539004/posts

The amount of posts in there represent sadly much of the majority of America. It's easy to be influenced by the media and well, say anything that one pleases.

It would actually be of great use as the more that one is educated about it, the less one would be ignorant about it.

Yes, I agree. The media and terrorism brought a bad impression, IMO.

I hate how people always assume that if you're muslim, you're arab. I mean, I understand that not everyone KNOWS that there's a difference or whatever, but after a while you get sick of people thinking that you came from "over there" ... I was born and raised in America, as was my mom (who converted to Islam) ... my dad's palistinian, but I've never even left America. Except when we went to Canada. But that was only for a day. But in the long run, all you can really do is try to explain the truth to people...

the muslim religion gets bashed because you have psychos who fly planes into buildings and blow themselves up in coffee shops in the name of god. if you do something in the name of god, you're doing it obviously through your religion. I don't remember the last catholic or jew flying a plane into a building in the name of god, nor do i remember the last catholic/jew coffee shop suicide bomber who did it in the name of god either.

hey, i know it sucks to be steriotyped by your religion, but honestly, i don't blame people who do it. the fact that almost every arab is muslim makes it a natural extension - and that extension goes both ways.

Do you really know the size of the Muslim population? Muslim Arabs make up less than 20% of the Muslim world. Just because a select few tem to commit suicide bombings doesnt mean the entire religion has to be bashed. And no, I not from Middle East either :) .

Jews and Christians commit crimes and terrorist activities, but is their religion bashed? I do not have ant intention to bash religions here.

It goes both ways. Christianity is bashed in large parts of the world. I read somewhere that about 70% of Americans (in some polls) define themselves as Christians. Of course they are going to bash other religions. Just the same in places where Judaism or Islam are the majority, they bash other religions. I'm not sure what will happen.

But there is a huge problem in Europe and growing in the US. And I don't know what is going to happen. It is quite frightening.

Are you seriously asking why the religion of Islam has had its reputation tarnished in America? Honestly are you just trying to start a huge argument. 9/11 is why it is tarnished and that is pure and simple. You are trying to twist around words when we say that almost all suicide bombers are Muslim. That is true but not the same as saying all Muslims are suicide bombers.

LOL, this is the same person who claimed Martin Luther King was racist.

And when did I ask WHY Islam's reputation was tarnished?

And when did I say Martin Luther King was racist? I have said in the past that his real name was Michael King, he has been proven to have plagarized almost every important speech or writing in his career (I have a dream..., Doctoral Thesis, many sermons), that he had Communist connections, he also was wiretapped by the FBI and on the night before his assassination it was overheard him drinking heavily and having extramarital sex with prostitutes bought with SCLC money and also he is overheard hitting one of the prostitutes. I did say that and I support that because it is true but the FBI files have been sealed by a liberal judge until 2027. Feel free to search for these facts or check out www.martinlutherking.org
Sorry for the rant but don't try and cast disparities on me by calling me a racist.

BCgoUSC, you are probably the biggest idiot on this site. You are the most racist and idiotic person i know. Please, just stop posting. We don't need to hear your crap anymore.

How is what I said racist? I didn't even bring up the subject but when I was accused of saying something about someone that I didn't I felt that I needed to justify and defend myself. I'm sorry if it hurts your PC feelings to think that what you learned in your 11th grade history class might not be completely true.

When do you think the Martians will invade Earth? Sorry dude, but you lose alot of credibility with your post on MLK. Since when did he have Communist relation?

Anyways, lets keep this discussion on topic.

Why don't you read the website and maybe you'll understand. You have to search to increase the breadth of your knowledge.

Um... If I can return the conversation to a slightly more civilized phase and return to the topic, I think that I can talk a bit about the topic having lived for 12 years of my life in the Middle East as an expatriate non-muslim.
I don't know too much of what the American media has to say about Islam, (other than what I can glean from CNN & occasionally FOX), but I can say that I (and I know most people agree with me), see terrorists quite simply as terrorists. Nothing more, nothing less. To me it doesn't matter if you're a Muslim, a Hindu, a Christian, a Jew or even a Scientologist!, if you decide that the only way you can put forward your ideas is through blowing up people, then you're a terrorist and have no place in a civilized society, whether an American society, and Indian society or for that matter an Arab society. Full Stop. Quod Erat Demonstrandum.

As if the Catholic Church is free of sin.

Spanish Inquisition, anybody?

moslems refuse to allow anyone else to live their lives in their own part of the world. very very violent. coming here to shop and spend money does not an american make. i have an idea. you like to cover up like a mummy well stay there. you dont like our freedom here then stay where you are im sure youre happier in the mosque anyway. i got on a plane the other day. a woman totally covered wouldnt show her face to match the id in her passport. she refused. so frankly she could have been anyone. everybody was too busy kissing her butt to make her show her ugly face. ps. the security people are spending like 15 mins compensating by frisking an old lady with white hair in a wheel chair from tennesee! hey man that is screwed up!
and by the way if the people in the middle east dont like americans thats funny since they all hate each other ove rthere i wouldnt take it too seriously. moslems hate moslems sunni vs shiite? i mean they hate each other and im suppoosed to be worried they dont like me ?? yeah right. we should however let them " love " each other lol get out of their way while they" love " each other. sadam "loved" his own lolol
NUTS totally nuts.

ps ask the french and the british what they think now that they have let all of them into their boarders. they are changing their tunes now. the french are stricter than the americans are! pretty funny to watch.

-sigh-
Timothy McVeigh, anyone? There are tons of people, of every religion, who commit crimes. It's not really fair to blame the religion.
Point 1:
Make me a list of every person claiming to be Muslim who has done an act of terror.
Now, divide the number of people on your list by 1.6 billion. Small number, eh?

Point 2:
Many people do not know this. Islam DOES NOT preach all the crap that terrorists claim to do in the name of it. There are a few whackos out there claiming that they're doing it for the sake of god, etc, etc. That's entirely wrong. Islam is a religion of peace. There is a verse in the Quran that states, "To kill one man is as if to kill mankind" ... MURDER IS WRONG, PEOPLE! Assuming that 1.6 billion people are as crazy as maybe a few hundred isn't really fair.

Point 3:
The thing I hate most is when people tell Muslims to get out of America. I'm Muslim, for god's sake, and I'm american. I would hate to live in the middle east.
