As it says in the title I will be transferring from my current college in the near future. The college I currently attend is a community college and I would like to get into the University of Minnesota. From my research I know that the U of M doesn't look at high school stats after 26 college credits. My main question is what can I do, besides good grades at my current school, to get into a school like the U of M? I'm currently taking classes that focus towards a business degree and have recently become treasurer of my DECA club. Besides what I'm currently doing is there anything more I could look to beef up my college application with?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

All right, I don’t know much about the University of Minnesota, but I noticed that no one had responded to this thread, so I’m going to try and help. Other than striving for the highest GPA possible, making sure any pre-reqs that may exist have been fulfilled, and building a close personal relationship with several of your professors that you can ask for recommendations, there’s not a lot you can do. It’s good that you’re already becoming involved with ECs - I don’t know what other opportunities exist at your CC, but I would try to demonstrate passion in your area of interest if at all possible. I’m sorry I can’t be of more help. Are you applying for freshman or sophomore transfer?

Additionally you could try and get an internship. That would definitely impress the admissions committee.

francisvdahlmann said it all. Strive for the highest GPA possible and put in time for ECs or internships or something. Other than that, your fate is in UM’s hands.
