Is it worth it/should I apply? Are you still friends with the people you did FYSOP with? It sounds like a great opportunity to make friends and transition into college, but my sister’s birthday is during FYSOP and I’m not sure if it’d be worth missing her birthday before I go off to college.

I would do it! I had a great time that week and it was worth it to move in early and start making friends. I’m not really close with people in my FYSOP group anymore, but if I’m in line with one of them somewhere I would definitely say hello. It’s a great chance to get to know Boston and BU before everyone else moves in. All of my roommates did FYSOP as well as many people on my floor, so we got to bond before other people moved in. I also enjoyed leaning about my issue area, Human Rights. We visited a women’s prison.

However, you’re not going to be exiled if you don’t do FYSOP, there are many people who don’t. Nevertheless I think it’s a great first activity for freshmen!

DD is currently traveling in France with a FYSOP buddy. She’s a rising junior and has made lots of friends, but her FYSOP friends are her family.
