If anyone wants it, PM me :-)

What is the craze about g-mail? Why does everyone want it?

b/c it has an entire gigabite of storage space. i don't know!

i got gmail
i signed up for it and waited like 3 months to finnally get my invitation

we've all got like 50 invites now. i got it a few months ago off of a gmail invitation spooler at isnoop b/c my friends all ran out of invitations (at the time, they only had like 4).

i think gmail is probably going to come out to the public very soon though without having invitations.

but seriously, if anyone needs one NOW, i have 48 left.

i just have 148 left...

if you go to google and just type in gmail invites, you'll find that the second search result is a site where you could get 300,000 of them. so, please, i beg of you, stop posting about this.

Yeah, that's gmail's way of going public. By offering so many invites...
We will probably never get an official "going public" announcement...

will someone send me an invitation for gmail?
soasrsamh@yahoo.com

I have gmail and am wondering if someone can tell me what to do with the labels? I have to attach them to each email but I don't see what's significant about that. They don't sort in label order.

Momzilla: I'm not really familiar with the labels in Gmail, but there are really no folders that the emails can get sorted to. They all just end up in the inbox.

Thanks young_one. Outlook seems so much better except gmail keeps my addresses handy when I'm at another computer.

Your labels should show up on the left side and if you click on each label, it will sort and show you all the emails under that label. Same if you click another label.

go here for free invites http://isnoop.net/gmail/

I have an account but it has NOTHING in it. I haven't deleted any mail. Just never got any. So, how do you send invitations to friends?

There's a box on the left hand side of the screen that says "Invite a friend" and below it has a box which says "Give Gmail to:" and an input box where you can type an email address.

By the way, I have over 100 invites, so if anyone wants gmail, just let me know through PM, AIM or email. ;)

Added: Labels help sort things. There's a box on the left labeled Labels (hahah), where everything you labeled will show up if you click the appropriate title (and only those things labeled). When I'm in the mood to clear out my inbox, I slap a label on a message and then archive it -- then you only see it when you click on the label.

How did you guys get so many invites? I only have the six I started with.

wait what is special about gmail... i dont really know what it is

Gmail = google mail - with huge amount of storage space and other special features. Anyone care to elaborate?

Listed below are are just a few of GMail's outstanding features:
* The ability to search your e-mails using the Google search engine (with added functionality to interface with the e-mail client)
* Approximately 1 gb of storage space
* 10 mb maximum attachment limit
*Minimally invasive advertising that delivers context sensitive ads or, if the topic is obscure, relevant links as found through a google search
*No embedded advertisements in outgoing messages and automatic shading of advertisements from others' accounts (like those from Hotmail and Yahoo)
*Spell checking with drop-down dictionary suggestions
*A self-filling contacts list with room for comments and a tab for "frequently mailed"
*Conversation system in which e-mails are grouped in threads, just like on message boards and forums
*Images are blocked by default and require only a single click to open or download (this stops spammers from using rigged images to verify e-mail accounts. It also helps one confirm if a message is spam without being subjected to the spam itself)
*Gmail is fully integrated with Google searching tools so queries of both mail and the web can be made from the same text field
*Very fast load times
*Automatic shading and hiding of text quoted from previous e-mails
*Message "labelling" system: instead of folders, e-mails are just branded with a category (this allows for messages to effectively be in multiple folders at once, in Hotmail terms)
*Automatic incoming mail sorting system
*An already superb spam filter that is constantly evolving
*A "starring" system in which you can just click a small icon to place important or urgent e-mails in a special starred-messages folder for convenience
*Sub-accounts simulate having multiple inboxes for each group of contacts
*POP and automatic forwarding options
*Save drafts of e-mails to edit later before sending
*Pure HTML rendering mode for use with older computers

Can you tell that I love the service?
