I'm trying to fill out all the random stuff in the application to get it out before Oct 1, and I'm stuck on page 5 with the Course titles.

My courses of studies book from my school has the "official" names i suppose, but the titles on my transcript are either slightly different or abbreviated. I've looked on the intructions for completing this part of the application, and still haven't figured out exactly what to do (because it says dont use abbreviations)

We discovered that if we didn't use abbreviations, as it says on her transcripts, then we can't fit some of the course titles within the allotted space. So, we're putting it exactly as written on the transcripts, noting that nothing's really all that ambigous, i.e. Adv. Pl Eng Lang Co. Seems reasonably clear and hope it's not a problem.

hisairness - i just got emailed today for abbreviating my government class. the admission rep asked me "i cant find this course ANYWHERE in your schools profile" .......dumb. apparently gov't: US(1st semester) and gov't: comparative (2nd semester) wasnt clear enough.

"List only "academic" courses such as anthropology, psychology, computer science, etc. (DO NOT list courses such as PE, typing, driver's education, health, etc.)"

Has anyone heard whether Georgia Tech considers music and/or art classes "academic" or "non-academic"? I know that some colleges want to know that you have taken classes in those areas.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but I have a question relating to the application and courses. When self reporting your grades, how do you do it? I mean, I have a copy of my transcript, but it only has my final grades. Also, the application gives a space for first marking period/semester grades and second marking period/semester grades. Our school goes by 4 marking periods = 1 year and 2 marking periods = 1 semester, but we don't have semester grades... What do I write in the two boxes before, because it doesn't seem right to put my MP1 and MP2 grades because that's only the first half of the year. Plus, because my school switched computer software my sophomore year, all those grades are lost except the final grades. Oh, I really wish I could just send a transcript. WHAT DO I DO?

Maybe you want to ask on the official GT admissions discussion board so that you can hear from an admissions counselor? Or call the office? Not sure I'd trust my application to the random advice of strangers....
