hi, I'm currently a sophomore who's trying to transfer to Gabelli for accounting- I have a question regarding financial aid; if I transfer to Gabelli to do public accounting, will my grants last until the fifth year (public accounting requires 5 years rather than 4)? Will financial aid cover the 5th year? Thanks for any info

I asked my suitemate who is an accounting major. She believes that the aid lasts for 4 years. A few people have 150 credits after 4 years (AP credits count). Some people start taking classes towards the Master’s degree senior year and the aid may count for that. Most accounting majors continue and get a Master’s degree (either a MBA or a MS) during their 5th year. Not sure how financial aid works for the Master’s degree as she is still an undergraduate student.

hmmm I asked for undergraduate and they said that my grants will NOT last the 5th year and that’d I’d have to borrow. I’m looking to get my cpa and honestly, I’ve just been thinking about getting a job now and saving up- I’m really looking into nypd cadets but am not a ny resident but will actually be willing to move here to do the program (the apartment wouldn’t be too costly if I’m able to get the nypd cadet job and not have to pay for the lirr + get a roommate).

but thanks for the info- I’m still figuring everything out right now
