My D was just accepted as a transfer student to Gallatin in NYU. She is currently a freshman at UVM and was just accepted into the UVM jazz/vocal performance program but feels she may have more flexibility and options at NYU. Her first love is musical theater but she does not want to be locked into a BFA. Does anyone know how Tisch and Steinhardt faculty regard Gallatin students taking courses in their schools and would she have any chance of getting cast in any of their productions?

The only classes she would be able to take in Tisch would be the Open Arts Curriculum courses, which are very limited. Non-Tischies are not allowed to take any courses that Tisch majors take. I don't know what the rules at Steinhardt are but, if I had to guess, I'd say they were the same. And no, non-Tisch students are not able to audition for Tisch shows.
