Does anyone know if applying in a year off after high school makes a difference in the application? I read that Princeton adcoms like to see people ask for a deferred entry (in the application as a senior) but applying ED after getting rejected RD last year, make a dif as well? Also, I completed my high school in 3 years (skipped 10th).

As long as you have done alot of stuff since you graduated you should be okay. In the online application for Princeton they have a box for your situation where they want you to describe activities since you completed school. Skipping grades is awesome BTW!!!

The only thing I would worry about is how they will consider a "re-application". Uless you have alot of new things to put on there since last time I would consider other college options. Not saying that you shouldn't apply, by all means do. Just have some others lined up if Princeton still doesn't work out. Best of luck!!!

Thanks. Applying again would show true interest in Princeton. Would that count for anything?

Also, I hope to have improved my app since last time. My SATs were particularly down the toilet (all sub-700s), and I didnt have any AP scores. Hope things turn out better this time round.

I honestly don't know, I think it should. Are you applying ED or RD???

I think that what they will be looking at teh most for a year out of high school is EC's.

Best of luck on the SAT's!!!

IDK about the "true interest", because applying ED shows the same thing...but a gap year between applications will look a little better than ED interest-wise.

I agree with SweetestSith...they will want to see what you did with a year of your life, not so much whether your test scores improved by 100 points.

Good luck with your application!

If you had a productive and interesting year then it shouldn't hurt. If you spend all year bludging and surfin ...

nopoisonivy's S was rejected, took a gap year, developed his art portfolio, and now is class of 09.

he applied ED or RD?

Also, what were his stats like? did he improve his SATs etc what really got him in?
