<p>Having been accepted to Williams, and with my compulsory military service nearing an end (november), I will have a gap year of sorts before I head off to college in August 2007. I was wondering whether any of you parents have any first hand knowledge of employment opportunities (and if at all this is possible) in Indiana, the closer to West Lafayette the better, as my girlfriend will be a freshman at Purdue come this Fall.</p>
<p>Hit me with answers to any of the following, or any reasonable guesses you may hazard. </p>
<li>What’s the minimum wage in Indiana?</li>
<li>What’s the procedure of obtaining a work visa, and is this applicable for part-time hourly based work?</li>
<li>Will having had a work visa in any way affect my application for a student visa?</li>
<li>What sort of jobs will I likely be doing?</li>
</ol>
<p>Camps and stuff like that are good too, but to my knowledge they’re only during the summer… and I’d prefer this job thing to fill out as much of my gap year as possible. Thanks for your help!</p>
