For transferring to BMC is it better to take a gap year and apply again as a freshman or transfer?
I would say gap and apply again based on percentages alone. Gap means that you would be in a pool of people who have a 40% acceptance rate. Transfers have a 13% acceptance rate.
Your question says “for transferring to BMC” and then you ask about applying as a freshman. If you have college experience you can’t reset and apply as a freshman with a gap year. You might have been using that term loosely however. It’s hard for me to tell from your language if you’ve had college experience or not.
If you’re really set on attending Bryn Mawr then I would take a gap year and apply again. You’ll have a hard time transferring and you’d miss your first year which is a crucial part of Bryn Mawr culture.
I will say though if you’re premed and you want to take a gap year. Most people don’t go straight to medical school (if barely any) so you’d have to take another gap year after you graduate. I know a few premeds who took gap years and they are a little frustrated in that regard. So, the only exception would be if you’re premed-- I would start at another school then try to transfer.
