Gap Year - Should I give colleges an update on what I'm doing?

Hi,

I am an international student and currently taking a gap year. I applied to some US Colleges (Columbia, Barnard, UChicago) for the Class of 2018.
At the point of the application deadlines, I was doing an unpaid internship at a radio station which ended in January. At that point, I could not tell my schools what I would be doing afterwards.

I recently started working at a store in my hometown, and I am also tutoring a student; furthermore, I might soon start another (paid) internship.
My question: Should I tell my schools what I’m doing now? I was thinking about a short Email explaining what exactly I’m doing and why, just so admission officers know for sure that I am actually being productive instead of just sitting around. I know that high school students usually submit a mid-year report in their senior year, but since I cannot do that as I am not going to school anymore I was thinking I should at least let them know what’s going on.
What do you think?

Thanks in advance
