I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but here goes. Sorry if it isn't.

Okay, so I've decided to take a gap year and reapply to colleges this Fall. There are a number of reasons why I want to do this. I'm an international student and despite how great my "prestigious" private school claims to be, we have no guidance counselors. The entire college selection process is supposed to be figured out by the student and because neither of my parents had ever gone through it before, and lack of communication (down to how much they could afford) and me being affected too much by my peers' college choices, and applying like a headless chicken and the list goes on and on... I'm taking a year off to apply to colleges that I actually want to apply to and where I have a chance of getting in.

Anyway, I was hoping to sign up for a travel abroad program specifically for gap students so my question is, does anybody have any experience with any gap year travel programs (with or without volunteering) or internships? Which ones would you recommend? I'm not an American citizen so nothing national please. I've looked at http://www.realgap.co.uk/ but once again, I'd love to know if anyone has any personal experience with this program. Thank you!
