I am almost finished with my freshman year of college, and have decided that i definitely want to apply to med school, as a nutrition major. I did not, however, take any pre-req science courses this year since I was unsure if I would pursue a pre-health track. My main reason for not wanting to originally was the restricting nature of the premed track (Not being able to go abroad, take a variety of non-science liberal arts classes...)
I have tried to work out several possibilities for graduating on time and this seems to be the best option:

Sophomore year: Gen Bio, Gen Chem, calculus summer :physics
Junior Year: Organic Chem, Mcats (Go abroad to Australia during winter session)
* winter session= 3 weeks (could interfere with MCAT prep)
Senior Year - Nutrition major reqs

My other option is to take a gap year and spend a semester in Australia, as opposed to the winter session. Then my plan would be:
Sophomore year: Gen Bio, Gen Chem summer: physics
Junior year fall:Australia (some nutrition reqs)
Junior spring: calc, Gen eds
Senior year: organic chem
Gap Year: Mcats

Any opinions on which plan is preferable to Medical schools or which is more logical?
Is my dream of going to Australia not feasible with the late start on premed?
