How does my premed plan look (peculiar situation)?

Hi guys! I was accepted to a school that utilized the trimester calendar (3 "trimesters" per school year - ten weeks long - in which students take three classes at a time). It's definitely where I'll be going.

I set up a schedule through fall of my Junior year with my plan (the order) for taking my premed classes. I hope this doesn't come off as obsessively over-planning; I just enjoy being well prepared. I'll be seeing the premedical counseling as soon as I get to the school, but thought it would be good to get the advice of those who'd been through the premed track.

Also, I'll preface my list by saying that I've read all of the stickies and most of the general advice threads on this forum. I just hope that my post isn't redundant - I think it would be helpful for anyone doing premed on the trimester system.

Also, I didn't list the non-premed classes that I'd be taking - just the science/math ones.

Fall Freshman: Intro to Chem

Winter Freshman: Chem 1, Bio 1

Spring Freshman: Chem 2, Bio 2, Pre Calc

Fall Sophomore: Organic Chem 1, Calc 1

Winter Sophomore: Organic Chem 2, Calc 2

Spring Sophomore: Biochemistry, Physics 1

Fall Junior: Physics 2

Then the MCAT. How does this look to you guys?
Thanks!

Don’t forget to add Psychology and Sociology

That looks like a solid standard premed plan. Of course your counselor will tell you what track students at your college generally follow. Although there’s no way around this, I’d find it hard to complete some of these courses in a trimester rather than a semester. Taking Orgo along with 2 other math/science courses in only 10 weeks would have been tough for me, but I’m sure you know what you’re getting into. Good luck, and don’t forget to start doing volunteer hours NOW. 5 hours a week is plenty.

Sorry, I forgot to add Sociology for Spring of Sophomore year and Psych for Fall of Junior Year.

Yeah, the only part of this plan that concerns me is those two semesters of Orgo, Calc, and then the easiest class I can find (I know, I know, it sounds bad, but I want to have a high GPA…). Any thoughts on how I could get around that?

If I volunteer over the summer between the end of highschool and my first year of college, will I be able to list them on my college applications?

Thanks again.

Only if that activity continues on into your college days; otherwise, no.
