I'm on the verge of cancelling my place at an undergraduate law school(not in the us) to reapply again next year for East Asian (Chinese) Studies.

If I do pursue a gap year, I am interested to head to Vienna or the States to train full-time at a table tennis academy, while volunteering.

Alternatively, I am hoping to gain a 1 year scholarship via a placement test to study Chinese in China.

Are those good enough gap year plans?

Lastly, do you guys even think that I have a decent shot at the Top 10 colleges and LACs?

Please help me guys, it's tough making a decision like this without assistance :(

1 - Why are you thinking of changing your major, and is it possible to keep your school and change your major plans? (I know nothing about non-US schools.)
2 - The gap year plans will be figured into your admissions decisions for next year if you start the applications cycle over again. Do you think it will be something that makes you a more desirable candidate? If you take a gap year after you’ve been accepted, most schools I’ve talked to are pretty lenient about what you do. I think winning a scholarship and participating in extra study would make you more desirable, but I don’t know about table tennis.

what makes you think you can gain a scholarship in Chinese? How well are you versed in Chinese? At what level in China standards? Conversational, Middle School or High School? In what country did you have your language training? Have you beeen to China? Can you read Chinese newspaper quickly and finishing it in 20 minutes?

Have you won tornaments in Table Tennis? Have you been to Jr. Olympics or any world level competitions?

What is your HS gpa? rank?

i am good at Chinese and have studied it for 12 years now. please refer to the link provided above for my profile.
