Gas Stove Pollution

The same can not be said of many other areas of the US which do rely on natural gas for heat and electricity production.

If my gas cooktop does not kill me, my chocolate bars will!

Death by chocolate! :joy:

Induction will make it easier to melt them down and pour them over your mashed potatoes.

I can think of so many worse ways to die than “Death by Chocolate”.

Mmmmmmm, Chocolate.

Sounds a lot better than the almond that almost took me out. They could ban chocolate, and I’d be hitting up the Ghirardelli speakeasy in the back of a Dollar General.

And. boom …we are in the dark again. So glad to have warm water, a place to cook and a generator to run it all. Thanks to propane.

True, but that’s why we always keep extras of stuff we can eat without having to use the stove or microwave.

That said, I don’t think the government is going to come after gas stoves…I think they just won’t be put in new build houses…

Anywho, back to more important stuff…

The trend is obvious. Fossil fuels = bad.

I have no doubt that governments in places like CA will slowly regulate gas stoves out of existence, just as CA is looking to phase out gas water heaters and gas furnaces from the state.

We were in the dark too. Without my gas stove, how do I eat anything warm or wash up with warm water in such low temperatures? Absolute lunacy! Meanwhile, the rest of the world is burning coal…

We, the people, elected the folks in charge of this “lunacy”…

Yes, brainwashed.!

We just use paper plates…but then again we never have the electricity go out for a real long time…guess it might be a problem if it does.

Well, we got a new furnace about 5 years ago, so I guess when we eventually need a new one, it’ll be electric…haven’t heard about them coming house to house taking away people’s gas stoves and gas furnaces. But then again, I’ve got worse things to worry about…

Well, I don’t want to live in pollution like they have in China…

Anywho, done talking about first world problems

S and DIL, on solar, have yet to lose power. They cook with gas from a biodigester - cooking outside using gases from decomposition waste.

This off-grid life isn’t for everyone (no life is), but it’s sure growing on me.

I love my gas cooktop and I love that when the power goes out I can cook on it. A comfort food for me is a flour tortilla heated on the gas burner with butter or almond butter, I hate the sound of the fan and I rarely used it but I now turn it on most of the time when I’m using it. I’m willing to replace it with something else down the line if it’s better for my health.
We keep a camping stove with propane canisters that we can use in an emergency.

Just remember to turn on the fan in your range hood (or crack a kitchen window if the electricity is out), and you health will be fine.

Me too. I never bother with the fan or a window unless something burns to the point of smoking up the whole kitchen. :woman_shrugging:

Miele makes awesome fans. They suck a hurricane without sounding like one. We went to a local showroom to test brands on display they had, and that is what we got. Their fans can be paired with their electric cooktop wirelessly so that the fan would turn on automatically when the cooktop is cranked over a threshold. Alas, no such function for gas for technical reasons.

they do make some quieter fans. Worth searching for them.

I have a commercial grade hood that has the motor all the way up on the roof so it is very quiet.
