My parents are currently unemployed and I am in desperate need for the scholarship. IF you guys don't mind, can you guys offer me any advice about describing my leadership, awards, and the essays?

Thank you very much.

The best advice is to read old threads (2009, 2010). There’s loads of valuable information in there, and although it seems like a lot to read, it’s pretty informative and that’s how I learned what to write when I applied.

To give a short piece of advice though: Stand out, make yourself unique, show that you have great character and leadership, because they’re looking for the future leaders of America. Over 20,000 people apply any given year so you really need to make yourself stand out. Use your essays to do that, and show that you are a great contributor to community/are a great leader/something about your character that would make them say “THIS is who will help/lead America’s future so we should give the scholarship to THIS person, they really deserve it after what they have done”
