Gatech vs UIUC EE MsC

Hi guys,

I'm new here, and wanted to start by hearing your opinions on those two universities. Thing is, I'm an International Student (I live in the Dominican Republic) and received a Fulbright Scholarship to do my Master's in Science there in the US. I applied to 5 universities, but the ones I'm more Interested in are UIUC and Gatech... I already got accepted in GT with total funding and I'm waiting for UIUC response (might not get full funding)...

The EE MsC program I want to pursue will be focused on Digital signal processing hardware and software design for wireless communication (or something on that route. If too long, just leave it as digital signal processing H and S design, my Bachelor degree was focused in Telecommunications)... Main question is which one is better academically and why for this area (I know both are great, but I guess one has to have a slightly edge over the other). If you find other reason, not academics wise, that you might find important / relevant, please let me know too.

Thanks in advance!!, looking for your replies.

I will be starting MS EE at Georgia Tech in fall and I did my undergraduate at Georgia Tech so I can tell you few things I have heard from someone who is pursuing PhD. Georgia Tech have great DSP program and lots of research is in this area. Dr. McClellan have strong ties with DSP companies and others professors in DSP area is very known for their research.

Telecommunication is abit little funded due to the fact that it is more theoretical and coding.

I say if you want to do DSP, come to Georgia Tech. However, for Telecommunication area, I think you will have better luck in UIUC. Both are great schools and I think you will have excellent education in either of those schools.
