what's not to like, except for your scores?

Your scores aren't good.

have you talked to the lacrosse coach? lacrosse is huge up there, and i think by my guesses, at least 1 out of every 4 or 5 guys who go to colgate are admitted for sports. they have a massive football, lacrosse, and hockey teams for a small school

I havn't. I'm actually going to a lacrosse game in my state against Colgate, but I feel like its too late. I feel like I could play DI tho, I was just reluctant since I'm front the west and its so big on the east. I have communicated so much with colgate, letters weekly, e-mails, and the dean has become a close correspondence. how much does that play into the decision?

Oh i'm a girl---to clarify

i hope it plays a lot, because ive been keeping contact with him too. i was deferred from ED, and ive written a letter to him and my dad (an alum) wrote a letter to the president of the university

lacrosse is huge in the east, not sure how big it is in the west. i know down here in the south, a lacrosse player who tried to play at colgate would be laughed at, but it sounds like if you're all american you could maybe walk on

this is crazy--so many people want to go there. I've kind of realized I probably won't get in. Its a panel that decides the decision because the dean has told me that he has done everything..bla, but he can't make the final decision. how many people do you think are writing letters like us? And it frustrates me cause some well rounded kids that r actually social arn't getting in...they are accepting a bunch of people with good sat scores, frustrating.

but also, someone w/better stats that hasn't done anything probably won't get in. wouldn't they rather have someone persistant?

persistent...but overdoing it can be a cause for concern as well

Not in this case. Everytime I write him and he writes me back saying...keep the letters coming..so?

You still have a shot at Colgate because they deferred you. If they didn't want to see your application again or continue to evaluate you, they would have rejected you.

wow that's a silly statement. it doesn't matter if you can play lacrosse, if you're not academically qualified for the school, you're not going to succeed. It's not better to be involved in everything than to be smart. And it's not just the SAT scores, it's GPA as well, and yours doesn't stack up to Colgate admissions. Too bad. You may be a great athlete, but I guess you don't have the academic ability/drive to succeed there. And at least 70% of admissions can be based on GPA and test scores. ECs vary, but rarely go above probably 20%.

Oh, and by the way...I know PLENTY of kids who are social and do many different activities, just like you. And they post MUCH better scores. And they're applying to Colgate.

I am smart and academically qualified. I work extremely hard, and go to an extremely hard prep school. I feel like what differentiates me from other students is that I HAVE a drive to succeed and be successful, and the dean has actually commented on that. I don't do a bunch of EC's to just do them, I love everything that I do and stay busy. I love to be envolved. I never give up, and I always shoot high. I will definitly succeed at Colgate because I know about the rigorous courses from my sister and have experienced them from visitng numerous times. And I didn't mean to put people down with high SAT scores..I know they are social. I was just angry at the time. Personally I don't feel like multiple choice testing is a real indicator of intelligence. And obviously Colgate wants to review my application again--I definitly would have been rejected.

average gpa at colgate is a 3.6 i have a 3.5 uw and OBVIOUSLY there are people with a gpa below a 3.6

"envolved"
"definitly"

"I am smart and academically qualified."

Enough said.

Sorry I keep commenting but I COMPLETELY DISAGREE with what you said:
"if you're not academically qualified for the school, you're not going to succeed."
"but I guess you don't have the academic ability/drive to succeed there."
My sister had about a 1200 going into Colgate and she is in the top of her class and her major, now interning in DC for the whitehouse. You CANNOT just have scores to succeed in life you have to have tenacity to do so, some of the most successfull people don't have 1400's on their SAT's. I can definitly succeed at colgate from the rigorous courses I've taken. I'm sorry I keep writing but you really ****ed me off a lot.

nice come back with the spelling-i just got home from a 3 1/2 hour practice and am trying to do about 4 things at once. sorry i multi task.

and that's not enough said--i can say a lot more.

and i want to keep talking to you until you can say one nice thing
