You know how when you called, they tell you to press 2 if you’re a nominee, nominator, etc. Once you press 2, it’ll ask if you’re a nominee, nominator, etc. Press 1 if you’re a nominee. After that, it’ll ask for your registration code, then your SSN. After than, if you get the 0-5 message, i suppose you made it and if you got the “letter has been sent home”, you didn’t make it. I’m not 100% sure if this is true, but from earlier posts, I’m assuming this is true.

I’m the mom of of GMS from 3 years ago, and my daughter never was confirmed through the telephone prompts. Even when she was a scholar, the auto-system through the phone never acknowledged her. We just figured it was a glitch in the system, so don’t give up hope (as we almost did) years ago.

Did anyone get the message about sending in additional transcripts?
I guess if y’all are correct, I’m not a finalist. Poured my heart into those essays. Oh well.

I’m not a semifinalist :(

Ahh! Thanks, that made me feel A LOT better.

Did your daughter get notified the first day or what? how many days later from everyone else?

Hey guys,
those of you who HAVE been selected as semi finalists, can you call the number and see what message you get. Just so we can be a little more clear on this whole 0-5 message thing.
Thanks!

Ok, what the heck are you guys talking about as far as the 0-5 message? I have never heard anything about this, and my sister got it last year. I was emailed that I was selected as a semifinalist and to send in my high school transcript, school profile, GPA, and college acceptance letters. Am I suppose to call this number or something, because the email said nothing about doing that?

And for future reference, my daughter didn’t get her scholar notification package in the mail until 3 weeks after the first ones were out. We pretty much assumed she wasn’t getting it. The point is, notification time for the entire GMS process is random, and I know it is not easy to wait, but keep a positive attitude.

Don’t worry about calling in; if you got the email, you’re good to go.

Yessss! I’m a Gates finalist!!! Asian btw

I was just really excited that I was selected as a semifinalist, but now people are talking about some sort of message and its freaking me out. What’s the deal here?

Yeah, Troddle, sorry didn’t mean to confuse you. You don’t need to call.

@troddle
You do not have to call. It’s just a way for some people who haven’t received an email to find out if they advanced. Also after you submit the documents calling that number is a way to check if they’ve received your documents.

we wanted to see if u get the 0 of 5 things that need to be mailed in message. those that didnt get it think they arent finalist but if u didnt get it either then its no big deal

@missybitsy

where are you from?

Ok, I get it now. Thank you to all those who cleared that up. Now I can go back to being happy.
And in regards to some one elses post, I was notified as a semifinalist this morning by email and I’m Black. Also, I’m from Georgia

The online confirmation works… I am not a finalist…

Did you get the email saying you weren’t a finalist? What did it say? Sorry for all the questions. >.< I’m just really curious.

did asians on the west coast receive the email yet?
