<p>I’m a finalist. I did my FAFSA, and my EFC is 6800, so I didn’t qualified for pell grant. However, my mom was unemployed for 9 months this year, and she only made 8000 dollars. She received 17000 in unemployment benefits. She also took out 14000 from her 401 k to pay for my grandmother’s medical costs and funeral in March. If I explain this to Gates, will they consider these circumstances? Or is it hopeless?</p>
<p>I received both letter and email today notifying that I’ve been selected to be a finalist.</p>
<p>I called gates today, and it said we should all know of all status by March 15. We should call if we havent. Im so nervous, has anyone been notified thats from georgia or apart of UNCF</p>

<p>I called the Gates number and it said a letter has been sent out. Then I spoke to a guy and he said they sent letters out 2 days ago… Im getting so nervous. Congrats to all the people that’s been notified so far and Good Luck to the rest of us!!! :-)</p>
