Gates Millennium - 2006-2007

Anyone from CC apply for it this year?

I'm applying, and I still have an essay or two to write. Does anyone have statistics for the people who win this scholarship? I get the feeling that it is very tough, for it is quite a bit of money.

hahaha, isn't that due today? good luck!

yeah i got done on the eleventh of jan..

Turned mine in on Wednesday. I just hope my nominator's recc gets there on time. He mailed it on Thursday....

It just has to be postmarked by the 13th.
Me, my nominator, and my rec all submitted ours today online ^_^

Btw what are the stats? Like what is a commonly accepted annual income? Also, when do we hear back?

i dont know...my paretns make 47750 combined....and ive done a lot of stuff in school...and i got a 29 ACT 3.83 uw gpa

The gates site said we'll start hearing back around march. Another site I found has info about stats of applicants and scholars.

http://www.gatesfoundation.org/nr/d...rchevaluation/1

The link doesn't work man..

I applied for it

Did all the essays, got the recommendation and nomination essays, submitted application....found out I do not qualify for Pell Grant lol

Dang. That's a blow. Sorry...

you guys must make a lot of money to not apply for the pell grant.... i thought to do gates millenium you must be eligible for the pell grant....

My family's far from making "a lot of money," but not little enough to qualify for the Pell Grant. You have to file the FAFSA to determine if you qualify for the Pell Grant, which I didn't do until after I was finished w/ the Gates.

Thanks pgedufailedme for your condolences lol

Yikes, sorry to hear about that. Now I am worried about not qualifying for a Pell Grant.

is under 40K eligible for a Pell Grant?

My fear is that I won't qualify for a Pell either. But then again I'm not that competitive of a candidate so...we'll just have to see.

Good luck to every who did apply though!

Yea how low does your income have to be for a Pell?

I think the EFC required to qualify for a Pell Grant is somewhere around 3800, but I'm not sure

I think it may be a little higher than that, isn't the max Pell Grant over a little 4K?

um so is like 75,000 too much to qualify for a pell grant?

i missed the deadline and my mother's ****ed >< but if i didn't qualify for a pell grant, then there would've been no point anyway~

Um. It would depend on how many people you have in the house. If you have like 5 kids with some others in college than perhaps, but otherwise I think not.

My mom is single and makes about 43,000 a year, but it's only me, so I don't think that I'll be getting the Pell Grant either. While you might not have enough money to put you through college without any help, I can't imagine you getting too much needbased help, especially from the government.
