spanks and bluestar, I am completely with you.

metrosexual? thanks, but I think I'll pass

I've come to realize that chicks DON'T dig the lumberjack look.

That makes me EVER so sad.

Apparently metro is in.

If that is in, I am out.

I am clearly either "jock" or "lumberjack"

Well yeah, King Kong isn't hot, but please, don't be more high-maintenance than I am.

Girls NEED to learn how to appreciate a good beard.

It is CRITICAL to long playoff hockey runs.

There is NO way I'm shaving for some chica.

I have FLAVOR.

I am not shaving either. I am halfway there to a Hugh Jackman look (in X Men)...

My ski coach has this hilarious picture of him on the front of some newspaper (I think). He has a beard, because beards are a must for long ski races, and the caption said, "the snowman cometh"

he looked something like this...

only more ice

GinPA,
I bet there'll be some girls in the "inner circle" by the end of the summer. :) Then again, there's nothing mutually exclusive about homosexuality and douchebaggery, either, so ya never know ... I was just talking about my friends.

And what's this thing some of you guys have with perpetuating the stereotype that they're all effeminate? That's just wrong.

As for metrosexuals, I never say never, but I think I'll generally pass. For dating, I tend to be more attracted to big, brawny man-beasts. Not too into facial hair, though. Is it possible for a big, brawny man-beast to also be a metrosexual? Something doesn't seem right about that picture, but I guess so. Hrmmmm

yeah i think it is...possible that is. have you ever seen that "noscruff" video? the one where that guy wakes up in a dream and all the girls stopped shaving? yah i was just thinking bout that... ionno johnny depp is pretty much perfection to me. but he's not gay. of crouse. its kinda funny how everyone's "forcing" jake gyllenhaal to admit he's gay tho. he'd be a pretty cute gay best friend muaha 8)

I find many effeminate gay guys funny because their demeanor is almost like a statement against a patriarchal society. I sat next to an effeminate gay guy on the train yesterday, and he was the funniest person ever just for that reason. He also had a lot of funny things to say about female celebrities.

As a gay guy, I tend to get along with girls more because we usually think on the same level and have similar interests (I don't care much about fashion, though). I've had two close straight guy friends, but I usually don't connect with the rest despite how hard I try. The main explanation is that straight boys are just different, so we don't connect on a deeper level (I have many such acquaintances though). I once lived with 70+ of them for an entire school-year, and yeah... I didn't connect with any of them.

Btw, the Chicago Gay Pride Parade was AMAZING. It was my first time going, but I now plan on going every year. I actually had the opportunity to be on a float, but I'm glad I didn't go because the people on it were all-out and wild. Hmm. They were hilarious, actually. I can't believe they did some of the things they did  (nothing was revealed though) . Afterwards was the best part. The streets, not just the sidewalks, were filled with gay people! It was like Gay Avenue. My friends and I had our pics taken with a stripper(!)-- his private part was covered-- and some drag queens. I had never seen so many gay people concentrated in one area. And truthfully, I had never seen a better-looking and a more physically fit crowd in my life. Wow.There might be some truth to the saying that gay guys are hot. AND at this event, ~60% of them were masculine (not that I prefer masculine types).

sometimes it's even hard to distinguish a gay guy from a straight one considering how guys look so feminine nowaday.

Someone just the other day thought I was gay b/c I almost always stand with my hands on my hips??????????

Thats not gay??????

I love metros and I'm hardly ever attracted to butch manly men.

For me, it's not their orientation; it's all in the eloquence, cultured wittiness, style.

I know not all gay men are effeminate, but it seems a LARGE number are... I've only met a few extra-butch gay men and opposed to a lot of the extremely, extremely feminine gay men.

eloquence and style are really overrated.

most are neither, though... most act more or less 'normal'.

girls --> other than your close friends, a lot of them are pretty competitive and catty

straight guys --> shy/awkward vs. trying to get some... either way and you can't have a really good conversation

gay guys --> like your best girlfriend without the competition, and it's awesome. you can talk about anything from fashion to politics to nuclear physics and get somewhere.

Gay guys suck! They get all the attention of a woman! I hate that!!!!!!! Damnit!

Hahaha. Double meanings are fun.

Is it less common for straight guys to befriend lesbians? Or would it just not work the same way as for gay guys and heterosexual girls?

I also think it would be beneficial for heterosexual guys to befriend gay guys.

I don't know... that's a good question.

As a hetero guy, let me make some statements that apply ONLY to me...ie don't **** on me for generalizing. Most lesbian girls seem to be the "butches," ie I have met very few feminine lesbian girls...so, I guess hypothetically we should enjoy hanging out with them (cause they are like the guy version of a girl, just like many gay guys are girl versions of guys)...but I think guys make a clear restriction with the opposite sex...I just find most lesbian girls I have known to be shabby and somewhat unhot (sorry if I offend, this is most lesbian girls I have met).

Of course, nice looking lesbian girls...they couldn't be friends. I dunno, they are kinda hot...
