Can anyone tell me anything about the following courses/professors:

PHIL 115: Ancient Greek Culture and Society with Frank Lewis

CLAS 280: Classical Mythology with James Henderson Collins

ANTH: 263: Exploring Culture through Film with Christopher Boehm

I'd like to know how easy it is to get an A, and the how much the workload is.
I'm currently a freshman majoring in Business/Accounting with Prelaw.

I took PHIL 115 and that was fairly interesting. It's mostly intro greek philosophy with a bit of history thrown in. Not too much of a time sink for the busy student, though it does take some effort to get that A.

The class format was 3 or so short papers (2 pages) and take-home midterm/final papers that were a little longer, plus weekly quizzes in discussion.

Don't be deceived by the paper length, these are not your typical papers, in the sense that they have to be super-tight (none of this messing around with introductions or conclusions or transitions or other rhetorical constructs like those) and they must be super-precise - you have to get in, make your point, and get out in very few words.

(I happened to prefer that kind of writing, but your milage may very)

PHIL115 was a great class. For the most part, the material was interesting. There was a section on logic (ie. post hoc ergo propter hoc, modus tollens, etc.) that should help anyone interested in law. The TAs usually do a great job explaining the lecture material.

The papers are not as easy as you think, as someone said earlier. Unfortunately, I'm used to BSing and fluffing up my writing to get to the required page length.
