GED vs HS diplmoa

I'm wondering does GED vs Diploma affect an app? i've heard that schools(prob not all) have a sort of "quota" on students to accept with a GED if they might certain criterion. Now this can be a load of $#@ but who knows. Be nice to here others' take on it.

It depends on the school, some schools don't accept the GED but I'm don't think it is considered the equivalent of actually finishing high school.

Legally, a GED is the equivalent of a HS diploma. Whether or not a given college/university will admit any one particular GED holder or any one particular HS diploma holder is entirely up to the college/university. Don't worry about this one. Apply to the colleges and universities that you are interested in and let the admissions committees do their jobs.

Now if your question really is:

I hate my HS so much I want to take the GED and get on with my life but my friend/relative/neighbor/teacher tells me I can't get into the college/university I want to go to with just a GED, is that true?

Then I would say:

Pick up the phone and call that college/university and ask them if it matters.

And I would also say:

There are many paths to a good, useful, and happy life. Not all of them require that you spend four years in HS, and not all of them require that you go to college. Think about where you want to go, and consider the options you have for getting there.

Wishing you all the best.

Well let me clarify. I already dropped out.

I applied to a bunch of schools in the area, mainly CUNY. I got into them all as well. I had pretty decent SATS, which is why i was accepted with a non-existing hs avg. Schools i applied to accepted geds and such, and i know others dont. Currently i go to CUNY baruch

With my SATS i couldve applied to a bit better of schools and got in, so GED IMO might not be equiv persay but with good test scores it doesn matter. Now for elite schools i doubt they would even look at ged students, i was just curious. Partly because im planning to xfer out.

Now that you're in a college, if you have a good GPA you can transfer into many good colleges as a junior and what you did before college won't matter at all (assuming no arrests/stuff like that)

Arrests, lol. Im applying as a lower soph to schools for the fall 09 sem. Id be an upper soph in the new school(i started in the spring sem)
