General diversity at Holy Cross

Of course, I am aware that at HC there isn't much racial diversity. I was wondering about diversity in terms of outlook and interests - are there many (or any) liberals? Are there hipster-type people, hippie-ish people, or just anyone who isn't preppy and athletic? I'm preppy and athletic myself, but I just like to have a wide variety of friends and be exposed to new ideas instead of just adapting to a homogenous environment. Also, is the campus very diehard American or would a Western European not have trouble fitting in? Thanks!

Would not say that the campus is diehard American at all. Western Europeans would have no issues. In fact many Europeans seem to gravitate towards the greater Boston metro area frequently since it is cosmopolitan and has a variety of cultural influences. HC does have a disproportionate number of athletes due to it fielding 25 division 1 teams with only 2900 students. The college has worked hard to increase diversity but with such a tiny student body relative to most colleges it is a challenge.

I didn’t quite phrase my question correctly. I have no problem with athletes, as every top US college from Amherst to Yale is full of them, but I know at these top schools the students are very inquisitive and intellectual and not afraid to leave their comfort zone, while I fear at HC people might be very conventional and not too engaged. I know I got this vibe at Trinity, and the two seem comparable. Thoughts?

Holy Cross is probably one of the most liberal Catholic colleges and probably among the most diverse.
