<p>Can someone help me clarify the meaning of this: </p>

<p>In each subgroup, one of the two courses must be 5
units and carry either laboratory/demonstration or
Writing II credit. For students entering Fall Quarter
2009 through Fall Quarter 2011, the laboratory requirement is reduced to one 5-unit course from either
subgroup. Other courses in the subgroups may be 4
units.</p>

<p>You need to take 2 life science and 2 physical science GEs. 1 of the 4 has to be a 5 unit course with a lab designation. The other 3 have to have at least 4 units, but you need to have 17.5 units total from at least 4 classes.</p>

<p>On the site I saw this for, it didn’t say it was for the science only. Thanks for the clarification!</p>
