New GE Policy, Does it count for all students?

There is a new GE Policy that will be effective for Fall 2012.
Overview of General Education Requirements (Effective Fall 2008)

This new policy will make is so that students will only have to take 1 science lab with either physical or life science. Students still have to take the other class that didn't have a lab. For example, taking a lab with a life science course and then taking a non lab physical science course.

Does this new policy affect all students? I am a entering my sophomore year this fall with 50 units. Will this new GE policy count towards me? I already went to the site and this is what they said:
"Note: For students under GE patterns prior to Fall 2012, courses in this category may only be used to meet GE Elective requirements."

For Category C (arts and humanities), can you take 3 units for Art, and then 6 units for Humanities(that's in the same category)? Such as, I take 3 units for Art 110, then I take 6 units from Philosophy. The school site said: "In this category students must complete 6 units in either Arts or Humanities and 3 units in the other area."

Sorry for so many questions! I already send a question to my adviser and I am waiting for her reply.

just actually read this in the newspaper lol.

the new GE stuff applies to current freshman, sophmores, and all incoming freshmen for next year. so yay no extra lab : D

Thank you :D. So that means I can take PSY 241 for life sci :D. I just hope it counts for the my major…

I started thinking about this because I saw the new policy from the 49er newspaper too.

When I read that, I thought there was no change and that was required by all students. Oh well. xD
