So this is a general question: Say I receive my financial aid package in April and I accept it. Say this financial aid package is a kind of a full ride (Carolina Covenant), with the exception of work-study aid. If I receive a scholarship that following summer, what would happen if that scholarship money is more than what covers the work-study? Would I get a reimbursement, if that makes any sense? Does it depend on the institution? :)

Yes, it is college dependent. Some will essentially use the outside scholarship to replace part of the merit aid that you have received from the college, others will give it to you. D1 had a full ride (no WS) and also got a small outside scholarship and the college cut her a check for that amount. Ask your college how they deal with outside scholarships, they should be able to tell you.
