General Guide to Getting 800 on SAT II Math 2C

i have a questionnnnnn… lol so basically what math do you need to know up until for the math 2 and do i need a graphing calculator?

@wanderlustgal for math II, it is necessary that you have taken a pre-calculus class. Okay, not absolutely necessary, but it very very helpful as precalc is covered on the exam. A graphing calculator will be very useful, but again, not necessary. I think you should have one; it is good for school and you always use it…you need one for math above precalc. You don’t need a TI-89 though…just a regular graphing calc.

it is not necessary but is veryyyyy helpful. I only used the barons book and that is the best book out there. Don’t be scared by the diagnostic test however. I went into the diagnostic test and got a 600. Spent about a week of just going through the book and doing all the practice problems. Walked into the test and got a 780. One thing that was very helpful was my good ole trust ti-89. Im taking it again to get that 800 but Barons is the best.

When I’m unsure of an answer, is it better to leave it blank or should I guess intelligently?

I’ve never taken a SAT before therefore I’m not quite sure how my strategy should be regarding questions I’m not sure of…

(I’d like to get 700+)

Answer them all. If you guess on 5 questions without even reading the question or answers, odds are you’ll get 1 right. For the 1 you got right, you missed 4. Missing a question counts off 0.25. So on the 5 questions, you got 1 point for the correct guess and lost 1 point (4 x 0.25) for the 4 incorrect guesses, which totals 0. This is the exact same as omitting everything.

Since you’ll always have an idea of one answer being a Joe Bloggs answer, or in many cases narrowing it down to 2 possibilities, the odds are always in favour of guessing. I answered every question, guessing on 2, and got an 800.

@TeamRocketGrunt, thanks for a well written tips for MAth-2 subject test. All, I suggest you follow the tips mentioned by @TeamRocketGrunt. Good luck!
