800- first time

Background:
Trig/ Pre-Calc last year (most of my classmates who took the test last year ended up taking the test 2-3 times, so I'm glad I didn't do that)
AP Calc this year
No tutoring -- self-study methods only
I'm not good at math, so if these methods worked for me they can work for anyone

Materials I used:
Couple CB questions from that free booklet with all the subject tests
Barron's Math Level 2 <--- YES, slightly harder than CB but a good indicator of performance
Dr. Chung's SAT II Math Level 2 <-- helpful, but a bit off the mark in terms of content (a lot of stuff wasn't on the real test)

**I did not use the Official CB book-- I had some friends who did but they said it was useless (only 3 Math-2 tests)

Methods:
I did all of the "perfect tips" in Dr. Chung's book a month before I took the test. I got through 5-6 practice tests and scored consistently in the 660-680 range (this is GOOD-don't freak out), but I was overtime by A LOT. I took 4 Barron's tests, one each weekend leading up to the real deal, and they were easier than Dr. Chung's but still harder than the official CB. My score range was 720-760 for those (very good- Barron's is known for being a little harsher than CB).

Tips:
-For the love of (Allah/God/Flying spaghetti monster/other), don't make the math topics seem harder than they actually are. Learn how to break down questions into maneuverable pieces. Don't overthink.
-Take trig/pre-calc before you take Math 2. From personal experience, I think it would be even more beneficial to be enrolled in an AP Calc class when you are planning to take the test because you will have a deeper understanding of the math topics.
-Don't be afraid to skip questions. I skipped 6, which was probably the exact cutoff for a score of 800. You can still get a very respectable score if you skip a couple more- remember that the Math 2 curve is pretty generous.
-Don't get unnerved by the questions you've skipped-- keep your composure and focus 110% on getting the right answers for the questions you know how to do.
-Scatter approach-- Take 5 seconds to read the question- if you can't do it, move on and don't sweat it. My scantron had a ton of bald spots after my first run-through of the test- I went back and gradually filled stuff in as the math came to me. DO NOT DWELL ON THINGS YOU DON'T KNOW- TIME IS LIMITED!
-Believe in yourself.
