<p>I think that, in general, smaller schools are better for undergrad and larger schools are better for graduate work... Most important thing for an undergraduate career is how well you think you 'click' with a place, though, IMHO. "Better" has various meanings. Be sure to visit places.</p>
<p>(By the by, I'd like to add Rice to the list of LAC-ish schools of engineering. The university is tiny, with fewer than 3000 undergrads. The engineering departments at Rice have a similar feel to them as many of the departments at the LACs mentioned above... Not that I'm a biased alumna or anything. ;) )</p>
