General question about brandeis- help!

What do you find to be most unique about brandeis? What are the school’s defining characteristics? If you are attending brandeis what factors made you choose to attend?

The people! everyone is so friendly at brandeis and thats why i decided to attend.....that was a huge factor for me. its true too, during orientation and even now almost a semester in people you dont know will introduce themselfs and ask your name....you may find yourself talking to somone you just bet for awhile, its great everyone is super friendly, you dont have to worry about sitting alone at meals or anything like that. People are also very accepting of people from different backrounds

^^^

That's why I went there. When I was a tour guide, I used to use the phrase "This was the first student body that didn't ask 'what' I was, they asked 'who' I was."

I love the people! I toured a few other schools and the kids all seemed pretentious, full of themselves and their school, and stuck up coughTuftscough. But at Brandeis, everyone was so nice and quirky! That's the only way I can describe our student body. You'll find bodybuilders who like to ballroom dance, Democrats who are hunting afficionados, flaming liberals, fiscal conservatives, and everything in between. When people tell me what they do behind the scenes, it's always so INTERESTING.

I also totally agree with the whole friendliness thing. Just today, I was sitting with some friends and a guy sat down who I vaguely know from a club I'm in and just started talking to us for almost an hour. It was awesome. I love it that the campus is small enough that it's not weird for someone to do that but big enough that you're always meeting new people.

"stuck up coughTuftscough"

Thank God! I thought I was the only one who thought this. It probably was a mistake anyways on my part to tour Brandeis than Tufts.

Along with agreeing with the other three about the friendliness of the students, I would also say that the students at that schol have an unbelievable passion for learning and World around them. When I was there, I met so many kids who just simply loved being involved in what they were doing and the there is a real knowledge of whats going on outside the college campus. Thats why I am applying ED. I know that these are the exact sort of students I want to be around next year. Brandeis is not for everyone, but for some it's really an incredible place.

Why, exactly, did you find Tufts to be pretentious during a half-hour-long campus tour?

If it makes you feel better, I lived about half a mile from the Tufts campus, and I share the stuck-up, pretentious feelings that everyone else has about them.

That doesn't answer anything. I'm genuinely interested in a response.

I actually I've spent much more than the half hour tour there, both before and afterwards, and finding a down to earth, interesting person has definitely been the exception rather than the norm.

I am so in love with Brandeis and I hope that next year I will be attending!

Good! I hope you get in, too. It's a great school and you'll make a lot of good friends there.
