General Transfer Chances

Hey guys!

So I'm going into my sophomore year at Suffolk University. While I love Boston and the friends I've made, I don't feel intellectually challenged or like I'm getting the caliber of education I'm looking for in general. It is extremely hard to be involved on campus so I basically have no ECs from college. I want to transfer either after this semester or the school year. I'm majoring in Communications, probably something to do with PR but I'm not ruling any specific track out. My real passion is for writing and researching, but I'm looking for something with a little more job security.I would love to stay in Boston, but I feel comfortable applying to schools in D.C., as well as NYU.

Some schools I'm thinking about: Emerson C, Northeastern, BU, American U, NYU, etc. but I'm open for suggestions. I got into all of these schools the first time around (except NYU), but chose not to go because Suffolk offered me a better fin aid package. But at this point, I just want out.

Stats:
Current College GPA: 3.9,
just got accepted to the Honors Program at Suffolk
Was slightly involved in theatre, but as I stated it is nearly impossible to get involved in any group

H.S. GPA: 3.5
In the top 15% but I went to a really small school ha
A lot of ecs like NHS, High Honors, Theatre, FBLA, Choir, Student Council etc.

SAT: 1800 (I know... I know.)

Do you think I have a fair to good chance at these schools? Is it worth it to retake the SATs? Do you think this the general tier or level of schools I should be considering? Honestly, I just want some basic second opinions to see if I'm headed in the right direction in the transfer process.
Thanks for any and all suggestions/comments/etc!

Bump!

Sorry if I should’ve posted this in the chances section! I haven’t been on in a while and forgot!

Bump again? Anyone?

You can get into BU and NYU easy!!!

I agree…my best friend goes to NYU currently her SAT scores where the same and her high school GPA was exactly the same and her current college GPA isn’t nearly as good as what you have, and she didn’t have too many electives or extra activities except chorus and playing lacrosse…and she got in as a Freshman, I believe it’s even easier as a transfer.

as far as the financial aid goes I know she doesn’t pay much to be there due to scholarships and her fin package
I say go for it an apply it never hurts …as far as the other schools are concerned i’m not too sure but NYU is awesome! SO APPLY! lol

This is very different from what most say about NYU, it’s well known for their poor FA packages. They do have some merit aid for fr admits, but don’t think this holds for transfers. If money is a consideration, be careful with NYU, many have been disappointed in the past.

Honestly, attending NYU pays off in the end, it’s a very good school and hopefully your degree will pay off your loans (that’s kind of the point). NYU has many students for a reason and many students that don’t come from wealthy backgrounds. That’s just my opinion, honestly there has to be a reason it’s the largest private University in the nation. Students stay there for a reason, I don’t think everyone gets offered great FA packages, but in the long run attending NYU is worth it, and will pay off.

^Those are huge generalizations, and not ones I’d be comfortable in giving to anyone, particularly in this economy.

What about Boston College?
